Supporting the Community
Breaking down barriers to food safety education and building a stronger, more connected community of food service professionals across Minnesota.
Our Mission
Access to quality food safety training should not be determined by financial circumstance. We believe that every food service professional — regardless of income, background, or employer size — deserves the opportunity to obtain proper certification, licensing, and the skills needed to keep their communities safe.
Reduce Cost Barriers
Identifying and eliminating financial obstacles that prevent individuals and small businesses from accessing food safety training, certification exams, and licensing requirements.
Expand Access to Licensing
Supporting pathways that make it easier for food entrepreneurs, cottage food producers, and underserved food service workers to meet regulatory requirements and achieve proper licensure.
Build a Networked Community
Creating connections between food service professionals, educators, nonprofits, public health agencies, and community organizations to share resources, knowledge, and opportunity.
What We're Working Toward
Subsidized & Sponsored Training
Working to establish scholarship programs and subsidized training options for individuals who face financial hardship, including workers at small family-owned restaurants, emerging food entrepreneurs, and employees at nonprofits and community food programs.
Accessible In-Person & Online Training
Expanding the availability of in-person classes into underserved areas across Minnesota, paired with flexible online options to ensure that geography and scheduling are never a barrier to certification.
Community Partnerships & Resource Sharing
Partnering with local health departments, community organizations, cultural groups, and workforce development agencies to create a shared network of food safety support — connecting people with the resources they need to succeed.
Support for Diverse & Immigrant-Owned Food Businesses
Recognizing that new Americans and culturally diverse food entrepreneurs face unique challenges in navigating licensing and certification systems. We are committed to developing culturally responsive resources and outreach to ensure everyone has a fair path to food safety compliance.
Grant Funding & Support Currently Being Requested
We are actively seeking grant funding, organizational support, and community partnerships to bring these initiatives to life. This is an evolving effort, and we believe that real change happens when communities come together around a shared goal.
If you are a foundation, public health agency, nonprofit, employer, or community member with an interest in participating — we would love to hear from you.
